About ICWE
Introduction of ICWE

The International Conference on Wind Engineering (ICWE) is the main event of International Association for Wind Engineering (IAWE). The history of ICWE can be traced back to the year of 1963 when the 1st International Symposium on Wind Effects on Buildings and Structures was held at Teddington, UK. In 1961, Davenport put forward an analysis framework that integrated the basic concepts of meteorology, micrometeorology, climatology, aerodynamics, structural mechanics and probability theory into a homogeneous model of the wind-excited behavior of structures, which promoted the cooperation and unity of related disciplines and contributed to the birth of ICWE and IAWE.

After continuous growing in several decades, both ICWE and IAWE have entered a comparatively mature stage. Currently ICWE is held every four years and rotates in the three Regions of IAWE. The 15th International Conference on Wind Engineering will be the first ICWE in China. ICWE is intended to gather researchers and engineering consultants who will share the latest results of research and successful case studies in which wind is a relevant engineering and design phenomenon. The field includes applied meteorology, fluid dynamics, wind energy, civil engineering, city planning and so on.
